Overview

The City of Merritt has finalized construction of a new fully-funded, 2000-square metre dog park area, on a small section of the North-West corner of Voght Park.

The new dog park includes separate run areas for large and small dogs, surrounded with black chain-link fencing and secure gated entrances. The Dog Park includes a dog water drinking fountain, picnic tables, and will soon include tree plantings inside and outside the dog park area.

Relocated the dog park from the location beside public works to the field East of Centennial Park. BC Government deemed that location not acceptable, so moved again to the final spot in Voght Park.

Fencing, trees, grass, and signage.

Funding

Please note that with the opening of the Voght Dog Park, the temporary dog park in Collettville has now closed, as the City does not have permission to continue that type of usage in that area.

The City will continue to apply for funding for different parks and recreational opportunities, including dog parks located in other areas of town.
