Overview
Main Street Bridge Improvements Project
There will be improvements made to the bridge to ensure that the it does not become a failure point in the dike system during a flooding event.
Limited flood resilience improvements will be made to the Main Street Bridge as part of the Dike 129/130 rebuild project to ensure water does not enter the town at this structure.
The bridge itself though is not built to newer engineering standards, and the City of Merritt will continue to look for funding for a long-term solution to this vital river crossing.
Funding
Several components of the council-adopted 2022 Flood Mitigation Plan remain unfunded, including this project.
The Flood Mitigation Department is actively exploring all possible funding avenues to secure the necessary resources.
