This Community Bulletin talks about the relocation of the Resiliency Centre to the new Merritt Support Centre, the importance of applying for Disaster Financial Assistance, and a fundraiser concert event in support of our community.
The Resiliency Centre has changed names and locations.
The Merritt Support Centre officially opened it’s doors on Tuesday, February 1st at 1700 Garcia St. Unit 102 in Merritt—that is where the Easy Home store used to be.
The Merritt Support Centre is open 7 days a week between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The Merritt Support Centre is here to help connect members of our community who have been impacted by the Coldwater Flood to critical services and information.
Other agencies including the Red Cross and the Province of BC are still here also and continue to provide support to our community.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
We know that many people are waiting to hear back from their home insurer.
Regardless of the current status with your insurer, we strongly recommend that everyone who has been impacted by the Coldwater Flood apply for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) from the Province.
Deadline for DFA application is February 12th. A representative from Emergency Management BC is available at the Resiliency Centre in Merritt to help you complete the application and to answer any of your questions. You can also visit: www.gov.bc.ca/disasterfinancialassistance
MUSIC STARS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY
A concert and telethon fundraiser event, featuring music stars from across the country is being planned in support of Merritt, Lytton, First Nation communities, Princeton, and Abbotsford. The event will feature live and online performances as well as a telethon and contests.
The live concert is to be held on March 13th in Mission BC. This is an amazing initiative to help rebuild our community. The event is supported by the Rotary Club of Merritt.
